Lightness, grace and beauty - these words echo in consciousness when looking at the image of a ballerina. It seems that in life, beautiful girls are as easy as on stage in air pirouettes. But is it? How do they become a ballerina, and what does one standard day look like in the life of a dancer?

The long and thorny journey

Not every slim girl is destined to become a ballerina. To enroll in school or college at a professional level, the girl has to overcome several competitive stages of selection and go through all the parameters established by the selection committee. Good prima begin at an early age (about five years), get into special schools at ten. On average, training lasts six years, the first half of which are general classical dance lessons, and the second is the specialization of a particular artist or artist.

After graduation, not every door opens in front of the ballerina. To get to the National Theater or just become a permanent member of corpses, you need to have not only education, but also talent, stamina and health. The slightest problems with joints, pressure, vestibular apparatus - the road to the big ballet is closed.

If you managed to break into the main composition, the most intense, but also the most difficult stage in the life of a ballerina begins. Daily rehearsals, performances, work on yourself - three whales of ballet routine. How is the standard day of the dancer?

How does a ballerina live?

At 10-11 am all ballet dancers are already waiting in the rehearsal room. Regardless of the type of performance or the level of the dancer herself, every day the ballerina must learn. The higher the level of the theater, the more experienced and demanding teachers, the higher the competition and the more difficult the selection. Beginning artists, to prove their readiness to learn, often come an hour before the start of the lesson - they preheat joints and muscles, train complex pirouettes so as not to fall into the eyes of the master.

At school, girls and boys train separately, in the process, the entire corpse is engaged together. Dancers work out supports, paired elements and excerpts from classical ballet pieces in pairs. Constant practice is the key to a successful career.

Regardless of the artist’s employment in the play, in the morning he needs to go through “classes”. These are classes of a classical orientation, where dancers practice the stands and basic ballet elements at the machine independently. The movements at the machine are honed to perfection in front of the mirror. Then the dancers repeat the movements already without support, trying to maintain posture stability, the grace of arms and legs movements. After that, the artists repeat the basic jumps and technique. The most experienced - all occupations remain in pointe shoes, others put them on only for practicing directly dance movements.

Only after classes do girls and guys disperse at rehearsals of their own productions, practicing 8-10 hours of excerpts from the works. After all, ballet is the beauty of detail, grace at your fingertips. Rough movements are unacceptable. The most complex pirouettes should seem to the audience something natural and laid-back. And behind all this are corns in the dance halls and complex training.

Young ballerinas often limit themselves to gatherings with friends and even on dates, finding a couple right in the ballet hall. After all, after rehearsals at 10 pm, only sleep and rest remain.

The diet of "air" dancers

Ballerinas flutter on stage like fluffs. They seem to be powered by air. At the same time, girls give so much energy in the ballet halls that their diet simply has to be nutritious and healthy. What do the dancers themselves say about their diet?

Many argue that there is simply no time left for junk food. Spending from morning to night all the time in the training room, the girls have time to have a bite to eat, while at home they are left without dinner. Dancers prefer light and quickly digestible food. If it is carbohydrates - then fruits, if protein - then dairy products or fish.

A few rules for nutrition of ballerinas are below:

  • Drink a lot of water per day (from two liters). Dehydration for the dancer is the main enemy. Pressure drops, forces go. Each ballerina must have a bottle of mineral water with her.
  • You can’t overeat. It is better to split a large portion into several and eat during the day. You can’t stay hungry, but a full stomach makes it difficult to “flutter” on stage.
  • Do not take nutrition diet. Dancing, as well as the lifestyle of a ballerina, is for life. Limiting oneself to fats or carbohydrates is easy to break. Ballerinas select the optimal and balanced diet from light foods.


The ballerinas themselves say that despite all the difficulties, they love their profession very much. Without love and passion for ballet, it is impossible to dance beautifully, give all your strength in the training room and devote 20-30 years to your dance.

An interesting feature - even prima ballerinas often sew bows to their pointes on their own. Girls are very sensitive to dance shoes, choosing only high-quality and expensive models. A solid toe and a strong mount reduce the number of corns and make shoes stronger at times.

The most difficult thing for many dancers is the daily repetition of already memorized pa. It seems that for a decade, every movement of the hand and rotation of the body has already been studied. But every time a coach or a mirror says that there is much to strive for. Daily morning classes must be attended, but many dancers do not really like it.

Ballerinas do not allow themselves extreme entertainment. They can’t ski, snowboard, they have to pick up comfortable shoes and carefully go in ice. Their body should be not only graceful, but also healthy. Sometimes a ban on skiing is prescribed in the contract.

It is these difficulties that make ballet so beautiful. Complex pirouettes are the result of hours of work in the hall. Every day the dancer is self-improving, there is no peak in ballet, after which you can "rest on our laurels." Graceful ballerinas have more willpower than Olympic champions. And this daily work, perseverance can only be envied!
